Deje Vu! Say It Again! by Rev. Sandra Caldwell-Williams (Dual M.Div./M.A.C.E.’06)

Blessings, peace and wellness!

I received a wonderful gift from one of my sisters in ministry while attending a Women’s Conference in Richmond, VA, and the reading spoke of the sufferings that are ahead. The bulk of this writing is pre-COVID19 pandemic, but the eternal Word always finds a place to “say it again!” and bear witnesses to the heart, mind, and spirit of the redeemed.

“I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh, I am completing what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of the body, that is the church.” (Col. 1:24 NRSV). One of my sistah-friends reminded me to read it and I want to share how my spirit digested and processed this scripture with you.  Paul reminds us of his personal suffering and associates it with the suffering of Christ on behalf of the church.  There are sufferings yet to be accomplished in the body, the Church, that Jesus was not able to suffer on the cross. Be patient children of God, hold steady through the days that lie ahead, and know that the trials and sufferings are working toward a consuming glory!

Praise in this season is not easy, but praise is necessary

No one should take your praise for granted, because it comes from a low place and projects wails woven in sorrow, pain, loss, and questions. Praise God out of a heart full of love; love recalling all the blessings and gifts given. Praise God for every blessing and every victory. Yes, praise God when often the most difficult thing to do is praise God! Praise is the victory that overcomes the hardships of this world. Your faith, and the praise coming forth in your voice filled with faith, encourages you and those around you.

Is this season tough?  YES!  Are many of us suffering personally?  YES!

What will be your testimony amid COVID-19?

How steady are you amid the overwhelming presence of suffering? Remember, God through Jesus Christ is with us – PRAISE GOD!
