Redeployed! by Rev. Dr. Audrey Todd (Dual M.Div./M.A.C.E’10)

Alarming
Swift
No time to prepare
A menacing plague came upon us
Where did it come from?
Who sent it?
Why?
Questions, questions, questions!
Are these the right questions?
Is this the time for questions?
Should we, the church, be asking questions?
In the midst of a plague, what should we do?

The Chronicler records this:
At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. Is this one of those times?
What do we do?
humble ourselves
pray
seek the face of God
turn from our wicked ways
Then I will hear from heaven and
Forgive your sins
and heal your land.
Have mercy Lord!
Forgive us.

Today, limited gatherings, fabricated hugs, essential travel only, COVID-19
We’ve been redeployed!
Go home.
Rekindle, reestablish, reevaluate, recommit, return.
Go home.
Then my eyes will be open and my ears will be attentive to every prayer made in this place. For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy – a place where my name will be honored forever.
But if your descendants abandon the decrees and commands I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods, then I will uproot the people from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make it an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.
Go home.
