(Self-Paced, Ongoing) Old Testament Bible Survey – Pathways Online Course

November 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023

This is a self-paced online course that is open to all. All lectures are pre-recorded, with quizzes included.

Course:  Old Testament Bible Survey Course, Pathways online course

Course Description:  This online course offers a general introduction to the Old Testament. It surveys the major themes of the Torah, Prophets, and Writings. The lectures and the readings unpack the literary features of the different genres found in these Scriptures. They discuss the meaning of these texts in their historical context, and they reflect on how the theological witness of the Old Testament relates to contemporary issues.

Online Course Format:  This course is accessed via a Blackboard classroom management site (login credentials provided). The Bible Survey courses are asynchronous; that is, you can access lessons and quizzes online at your own pace. At the end of each of the 11 sessions, there is a quiz to test your understanding of the material. In this course, a score of at least a 70% must be achieved on each quiz in order to move on to the next session. Quizzes can be retaken as often as necessary.

Co-led by: Dr. Samuel Adams, Professor of Old Testament; Dr. Safwat Marzouk, Associate Professor of Old Testament; and Dr. Megan Fullerton Strollo, Assistant Professor of Biblical Languages, Union Presbyterian Seminary

Dates: Ongoing, and self-paced

Cost:  $150 per course

Course tuition includes access to pre-recorded lectures for each of the 11 sessions, outlines or presentations from those lessons, and quizzes. An additional cost is one required textbook for the course, not included in course tuition.
