President Blount statement on passing of Rev. Dr. Willie Woodson

RICHMOND, VA (December 8, 2020) – Union Presbyterian Seminary President Brian K. Blount made the following statement on the passing of alumnus, former trustee, and President Advisory Board member Rev. Dr. Willie Woodson (M.A. ’84 and D.Min.’08). Woodson died December 4. He was pastor of Trinity Ghanaian Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia.

“Willie was a genuinely kind, gracious, caring human being whose joy of life and passion for Christian discipleship shone through in everything he did and with everyone whom he engaged. Filled with an abundance of gratitude for how God had moved in his life, he responded by being abundant in love with others. A devoted pastor who retired from one pastorate into the ministry of another, he lived his call in the company of believing others with passion for not only exegeting the biblical text in sermon and study but in the way he lived his life. He was also one of the most loyal of alumni for Union Presbyterian Seminary. And to me, he was not only a great supporter; he was a dear friend. Like so many from the family of UPSem, I will miss him greatly.”
