Pastor – Crooks Creek Presbyterian – Harrisonburg, VA

Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church is currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic full-time pastor with strong intrapersonal skills to serve its 250 members. Cooks Creek is a PCUSA church and member of the Shenandoah Presbytery located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Harrisonburg is a mid-sized city nestled between the Alleghany and Blue Ridge Mountains in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. The city and the surrounding county are home to James Madison University, a large public university, and two private colleges: Brethren-affiliated Bridgewater College and Eastern Mennonite University.

First organized in 1739, Cooks Creek is one of the oldest congregations in the country. The congregation is and has always been deeply committed to a vision of God’s openness to all people, to the spiritual nourishment of both the head and the heart, and to making a difference in the local community and the world. Like most churches across the nation, the congregation experienced an attendance drop during the COVID pandemic but has stabilized to an average weekly
attendance of 75. The current membership is comprised of many long-standing members and families committed to the mission of the church. The congregation is looking for a pastor who provides weekly messages rooted in scripture and applicable to daily life and who is willing to initiate new programming to connect and grow its current membership.
