Associate Pastor – First Presbyterian – Gastonia, NC

Areas of Ministry:

Preaching and Worship:
•    In coordination with the Senior Pastor, plan and lead both our Traditional and Contemporary (Thrive) worship services.
•    In coordination with the Senior Pastor, preach the Word of God for worship services monthly on average.
•    In coordination with the Senior Pastor, lead special services of the church such as weddings, funerals and special liturgical services.

Pastoral Care:
•    Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and the Pastoral Care Committee to provide pastoral care to the congregation.
•    Offer pastoral counseling as appropriate.
•    Supervise the Minister of Visitation in carrying out visitation and care responsibilities.

Missions and Community Engagement:
•    Work with the Missions Committee to provide leadership, guidance, and resources.
•    Create opportunities for the congregation to engage in meaningful, relevant mission work locally and globally.

Session and Diaconate:
•    Serve as a member of the Session.
•    Act as staff liaison for the Diaconate, supporting the Deacon Moderator and facilitating communication.

Leadership and Administration:
•    Directly supervise the Minister of Visitation and Membership Coordinator.
•    Serve as staff representative to the Diaconate, Pastoral Care Committee, and Missions Committee.
•    In the absence of the Senior Pastor, lead weekly staff meetings and ensure continuity of operations.
