Associate Minister, Children & Families – First Presbyterian Church – Hartsville, SC
First Presbyterian Church of Hartsville, South Carolina seeks an individual to provide inspiring leadership and steadfast support for children and their families through pastoral care and by fostering spiritual development through education, worship, recreation, and service. The individual will work collaboratively in partnership with all church staff and volunteers to provide programs and activities for our congregation and larger community.

We seek a person who is certified ready to receive a call or ordained as a Presbyterian Church (USA) Pastor, spiritually grounded in Jesus Christ, an effective communicator, committed to nurturing children and families, highly motivated and organized, and able to maintain a sense of humor and flexibility with our growing congregation and engagement in our community.

Responsibilities:
A. Provide strong and effective leadership, support, and resourcing to the Christian Education (CE) Committee and Children’s Ministry.
- Nurture and maintain relationships by being present with our children and families within and beyond the walls of the Church
- Develop, organize, facilitate, and evaluate a comprehensive year-round faith formation program, including, but not limited to: Sunday School, nursery, Wednesdays Together, VBS, weekly First Presbyterian Preschool Chapel, Rally Day, seasonal activities, and retreats
- Recruit and train volunteers for all children’s activities, including nursery and childcare, in compliance with the Child and Youth Protection Policy
- Create and implement a system of coordination and communication for Children’s & Family Ministry
- Manage and maintain budgets related to CE program in partnership with CE Committee
- Attend CE Committee and staff meetings, as well as other meetings, as requested.
B. Provide pastoral care.
- Assist in worship, including celebrating Communion and Baptisms, and preach no fewer than eight (8) times per year.
- Officiate at weddings and Services of Witness to the Resurrection.
- Actively participate in session meetings and, at the request of the Pastor, moderate.
- Participate in the life and work of the higher councils of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), attending regularly the meetings of presbytery.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Pastor as time allows.
