Meet the Instructor

Dr. Christian Sanchez was called to Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Theology from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (2017), a Master of Philosophy in Analytic and Exegetical Theology from the University of St. Andrews (2021), and a Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament from Baylor University (2024).

His research primarily focuses on the Gospel of Luke, the Acts of the Apostles, the Book of Revelation, early Christian apocalyptic theology, Empire studies, and postcolonial interpretation. Christian has published in Zeitschrift für die neutestamentliche WissenschaftJournal of Theological Interpretation, and Brill Encyclopedia of Early Christianity, and is a contributor in Early Christians and Their Art (SBL Press, 2023). Because his doctoral research in Lukan literature speaks to Latinx concerns and experiences, Christian also won the Hispanic Theological Initiative/Lilly Dissertation Fellowship award in 2023.

Christian is married to his best friend, Dr. Crystal Sanchez, a Physical Therapist. He is also a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
