Pastor – 3 Sister Presbyterian Churches: Hills, Pine Ridge & First – Pilot Mountain, NC
Hills Presbyterian Church, Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, and First Presbyterian Church, all from Pilot Mountain, NC, are Sister churches, geographically situated close together, and spiritually linked. We seek one full-time person to serve all three congregations: Sunday services at the Sisters have historically been such that, with their proximity, one person can cover all three without difficulty. We seek someone who is spiritually grounded, mission-minded, trusting and trusted, a good listener, outgoing, a leader, committed to a future of hope, and enjoys music.
We expect the Pastor to perform the following at each church:
- Conduct regular worship, which includes weekly preaching and teaching, grounded in the scriptures and according to God’s will and His purposes for our daily lives, and administration of the sacraments;
- Conduct special worship services such as Christmas Eve and Good Friday as requested by the session(s);
- Teach a regular joint Bible study;
- Provide pastoral care for the congregation and for others who seek comfort and guidance;
- Visit members of these congregations as requested, especially during illnesses and other crises, and serve them communion if they desire, reaching out to everyone;
- Engage with the local community to identify needs and develop solutions to those needs;
- Moderate session meetings and assist the sessions in their other duties and functions;
- Train new elders and provide communicant classes for those seeking membership;
- Conduct funerals and weddings;
- Help with church website(s), Facebook and other social media to attract new members and especially youth.
Compensation, housing, and benefits will be negotiated with consideration of expected length of contract and Salem Presbytery requirements.
