Associate Pastor – First Baptist Church of Christ – Macon, GA
First Baptist Church of Christ seeks an associate pastor who would hold primary responsibility for leading a well-established youth ministry and would support the pastor in pastoral care, worship leadership, and shared leadership of other ministries and missions of the church.
Areas of responsibility would be based on the candidate’s giftedness and determined in conversation with the search committee and pastor. In addition to youth ministry, potential responsibilities could include coordination of missions, faith formation, congregational life events, or other initiatives. This position would provide opportunities for the candidate to develop and grow in their ministerial leadership and skills.
Potential skills and qualities we seek include:
- Education, training, or experience in theological studies, pastoral care, and/or adolescent development
- Flexibility, openness, and willingness to learn
- Ability to lead programming and provide support for youth and families with neurodivergence and other varied needs and backgrounds
- Eagerness to minister to and cultivate trusting relationships within our intergenerational congregation and community
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to foster authentic exploration of faith and to value dialogue with those who hold diverse perspectives
