Associate Pastor for Congregational Life – Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill – Philadelphia, PA

From baptism through death, and at every milestone of life in between, congregation members turn to our church to celebrate their joys and ease their sorrows as they navigate life’s most challenging transitions, two of which are adolescence and post-retirement life. PCCH has developed a ministry for congregational care and vitality that brings God’s love and the gifts of an Associate Pastor to members of the congregation working through both of these stages of life.

PCCH seeks to find someone with a passion and a skill set to minister to these two significant groups within the congregation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting youth (6th -12th grade) and older adults in both daily life and times of need, offering opportunities for faith formation as well as providing spiritual support, comfort and understanding. That individual will be an active listener with the patience to work with people who are in an often vulnerable and emotionally challenging period in their lives. We seek someone who will help to build authentic relationships within and between these groups in order to harness both their enthusiasm and gifts to serve the community.

The Associate Pastor will also serve as a liturgist regularly and preach every 4-6 weeks. We seek a person with strong worship leadership skills, who can bring a timely word to God’s people in the context of our traditional style of worship.

Chartered in 1852, PCCH is located in Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood, an affluent and picturesque urban village tucked into the leafy Northwest corner of one of America’s great cities. We almost literally straddle the line between city and suburb, which is reflected in our congregation and outreach. Our location puts us in a unique position to bear witness to Jesus Christ, seeking to serve among the powerful and the powerless in a ministry of love and compassion for the surrounding community and beyond.
