What does it mean to encounter history in the plac What does it mean to encounter history in the places where it happened?

In our May Term travel seminar, students are traveling through Germany and Berlin and reflecting on sites of memory, persecution, and witness. Led by Dr. Dorothee Tripodi and Dr. Rachel Baard, the seminar invites participants to engage the history of the Holocaust not only through study, but through presence, reflection, and testimony. The Center for Excellence in Christian Education's The Center for Excellence in Christian Education's next virtual Collaborative Conversation is on Thursday, April 30th at noon and you do not want to miss it! 

Dr. John Hutton, the speaker for this next conversation, is a professor, pediatrician, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a renowned researcher in children’s brain development. With his team, Dr. Hutton published the first studies in the world using MRI to quantify relationships between home reading and digital media environments on brain structure and function in preschool-age children. He is a leading voice in the effects of screen time on brain development in children and the findings from his research his widely published. He is also the author of a series of children’s books that promote importance of a solid foundation in language, human connection and creative play.

We give thanks for the life and witness of Ben Spa We give thanks for the life and witness of Ben Sparks (1939 - 2026). A Service of Witness to the Resurrection followed by a celebratory reception in memory of Ben will be held at Second Presbyterian Church, Richmond, VA, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 3 p.m.
