Daphne Hill is a third-year seminarian at Union Presbyterian Seminary pursuing a Master of Divinity degree and a Master of Arts in Christian Education degree and plans to focus on Public Theology during her fourth year at the seminary. As part of her work at the KGCCWL, Daphne is the architect of the Katie G. Cannon Center for Womanist Leadership’s library which will house the books donated by the estate of Rev. Dr. Katie Geneva Cannon, the architect of the center which bears her name. Daphne also works at the seminary’s William Smith Morton Library. Daphne has served as Commuter Representative and currently serves as African American Representative on the Richmond SGA, has served as a student representative on the Board of Trustees for the seminary, and currently serves as a student representative on the assessment team that reports up to the Board of Trustees. Prior to seminary, she was an adjunct instructor for Virginia College, an adult basic education teacher, and a library assistant in Henrico County Public Schools. Prior to that, Daphne served as a small business liaison officer and as a subcontract administrator for multi-billion dollar federal prime contractors.
Daphne has been a member at The St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Richmond, VA for over 15 years. She was the inaugural on-camera announcer under the media team, has served on the counting team, Women’s Small Group, and as a member of the SPBC Toastmasters Club. Daphne has served on the VOICE Newsletter team at Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church also in Richmond, VA for over a decade.
Daphne is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Sociology and a Graduate Certificate in Procurement and Contracts Management and holds Master’s degrees in Social Work (Norfolk State University) and Business Administration (Strayer University). She’s a certified Life Coach and is the owner of a Virginia SWaM-certified training development company, Communicate to Elevate, LLC.
