Opportunities for Continuing Education
At Union Presbyterian Seminary, our desire is to reframe leadership as an ongoing practice and to equip pastors, ministry directors, educators, and lay leaders alike with the tools to be lifelong leaders.
This page provides information on how to become a lifelong learner–and in turn, a lifelong leader.
The Leadership Institute was born from a desire to provide continuing education to ministers. In the ensuing decades, our mission continues to grow by training lay leaders to become Commissioned Ruling Elders and Commissioned Lay Pastors, equipping ordained ministers within their contexts and pluralistically, and becoming a hub of collaboration for leaders in the church and community.

Fostering Lifelong Leaders
In order to foster strong community and lifelong leaders, the Leadership Institute offers a variety of online and campus-based workshops and seminars, conferences and special lectures, online courses, as well as networking opportunities

The Leadership Institute provides all the online courses required for the PC(USA) Certified Christian Educator (CCE) program, offering solid theological grounding and practical tools for those leading Christian formation. Courses rotate regularly, can be taken individually or as part of the certification pathway, and are open to anyone—not just those pursuing the credential.
We offer two Bible Survey courses that are self-paced in order to allow you to complete these courses on your own timeline: New Testament Bible Survey and Old Testament Bible Survey.
The Womanist Leadership Institute is a series of online courses focused on promoting and supporting Womanist scholarship and leadership in ministry. This program is co-sponsored by The Katie Geneva Cannon Center for Womanist Leadership and the Leadership Institute of Union Presbyterian Seminary.
