Hospitality

Two smiling women in the foreground are seated at a table with plates of food, while a blurred background shows a gathering of people in a room.

Both Union Presbyterian Seminary’s Richmond and Charlotte campuses invite pastors, neighbors, and friends into a rhythm of gathering, worship, and community life through events and spaces open to the public.

Both campuses are open to the broader Charlotte and Richmond communities, offering weekly chapel services and community meals, and creating a regular place for worship and connection.

The Richmond campus hosts the annual Sprunt Lectures, a signature gathering for pastors and Christian leaders; Yaupon Place provides an eco-park for healing, justice, and shared story; and weekly chapel services and community meals create a regular space for worship and connection. The Campus Cafe adds another layer of hospitality, offering good food and conversation that knit together students, faculty, church leaders, and the wider community.

Host Your Event at Union Presbyterian Seminary

Looking for a space to host a conference, meeting, lecture, retreat, or use our chapel spaces? We'd love to work with you. Please reach out to Katie Heishman (Richmond) or Karen Harvey (Charlotte).

Thompson Hall

Set on the edge of the Richmond campus quadrangle, Thompson Hall offers comfortable guest rooms in a distinctive setting — rich in character, thoughtfully maintained, and classic in charm. Thompson Hall’s prime campus location is the ideal home base for anyone looking for a contemplative, peaceful stay in Richmond.

Yaupon Place Eco-Park

Yaupon Place is an eco-park and public ministry on the Richmond campus—a space for cultivating community, ecological healing, and spiritual wellness.

Named for the native yaupon plant, the park provides space for local, accessible community-building, ecological partnership, and environmental restoration practices that restore mind, body, and spirit and reconcile ecological and historical injustices. The space is open to the public and features a walking trail and a playground. Yaupon Place can also be booked for community events.

Campus Cafe

We believe that community can be found and nurtured around the table, sharing a meal. At our Richmond campus cafe, we are committed to providing healthy, nutritious meals to students, staff, faculty, and community members.

On Thursdays during the semester, the Campus Cafe in Richmond Hall hosts a weekly community lunch open to students, faculty, staff, pastors, and neighbors. It offers a warm, informal setting for sharing a meal, building relationships, and strengthening connections across the seminary and wider community.
