Union Presbyterian Seminary Celebrates Faculty Promotions

Union Presbyterian Seminary Celebrates Faculty Promotions

Union Presbyterian Seminary is pleased to announce Board-approved faculty promotions reflecting the strength and vitality of the seminary's academic community.

Megan Strollo will continue in a full-time faculty role, now in a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Bible. A two-time UPSem graduate, Strollo teaches biblical studies and biblical languages. Her scholarship focuses on biblical interpretation, Wisdom literature, women in the Bible, and feminist approaches to Scripture, while her experience as an ordained Baptist minister bridges the academy and the church.

Rubén Arjona has been promoted to Associate Professor of Pastoral Care and granted tenure. An ordained minister in the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico, Arjona is a scholar of pastoral theology whose work explores pastoral care, liberation theologies, family systems, and the care of LGBTQ+ persons. Arjona is the first Latino faculty member at UPSem to be granted tenure.

Rodney Sadler has been promoted to Professor of Bible. A well-known public theologian and ordained Baptist minister, Sadler serves as Director of the Center for Social Justice and Reconciliation. His scholarship, teaching, and community leadership focus on the intersections of Scripture, race, justice, public life, and faithful civic engagement.

"One of our greatest resources and gifts to the world is our amazing faculty. They are world-class scholars, caring teachers, and leaders in the church and community. We are so glad to be celebrating with our dear colleagues in their promotions," said Daniel Ott, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean.

These actions affirm Union Presbyterian Seminary's commitment to academic excellence, faithful leadership, and the formation of leaders for the church and the world.
