In the film, Moneyball, the new assistant to the general manager sees talent where others see failure, challenging the general manager to do the same. The team is transformed by this vision of hope. In this lesson for high school youth, the students are led through a discussion about the calling of our Lord to us, unworthy as we are, as displayed in the story of Zacchaeus.

Our faith can lead us to unexpected places. Like Bilbo, sometimes we can be reluctant to follow God where God is leading us. In this study for youth groups, the class will watch a clip from the 2012 film, The Hobbit, where Bilbo is struggling whether to accept the call to journey alongside the dwarfs into dangerous territory or to stay at home and live the quiet life. Discussion questions are included, related to faithful obedience amidst doubts.
