Faith Review – The Way (2011)
The Way is a film by Emilio Estevez, starring his father, Martin Sheen, and set in the family’s country of origin, Spain. Sheen plays the lead character, an American father whose son has died in Spain. The son had just begun the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route in northwestern Spain, culminating at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where the remains of St. James the Great are believed to be held. The father decides to take his son’s remains through the pilgrimage route, and along the way he encounters other pilgrims who are struggling with their own grief. Included in this faith review are discussion questions related to theological and moral themes.
