Union Presbyterian Seminary will open a new bookstore as it takes over the campus bookstore location from Cokesbury, the retail division of United Methodist Publishing House. The store will open to the public on Wednesday, April 24th at 12 pm. There will be a grand opening sale May 2-4, including a reception and book signing event on May 2, in Belk Center - adjacent to the bookstore - on the Richmond campus, from 4:00-6:00 pm. The 2013 Sprunt lecturer E. Brooks Holifield, professor emeritus of the Chandler School of Theology, as well as members of the UPSem faculty, will be featured.

Union Presbyterian Seminary Grateful for the Life of Bishop Leontine T.C. Kelly
It is with great sadness yet deep appreciation for her life, that Union Presbyterian Seminary remembers Bishop Leontine T.C. Kelly who passed away June 28, in Oakland, California at age 92. The Black Alumni/ae Association of Union Presbyterian Seminary honored Bishop Kelly at the Trailblazers award banquet held on February 15, 2012, as part of the “Ministry on the Ground” conference and UPSem Bicentennial. Bishop Kelly was appreciative of her recognition as a “Trailblazer” and, as President Blount has said, the “enduring affection” of Union Presbyterian Seminary.

Visionary Leader for Training and Education of Korean Women
For the first time in Union Presbyterian Seminary’s history, an honorary degree will be bestowed. Dr. Yeon Ok Lee (M.A.'64), whose accomplishments are too numerous to name, will be the recipient of a Doctor of Humane Letters to be awarded at the seminary’s bicentennial graduation in June.

Rhee Receives Honorary Doctorate of Divinity
Syngman Rhee, special assistant to the president for global ministry and advancement, received an honorary doctorate of divinity from the Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary in Seoul, Korea during their Founders' Day celebration on May 8.

Union Presbyterian Seminary honored six Presbyterian congregations for their innovative service in Christian education, outreach, and social concern with the annual Congregational Leadership Awards.
