Seminary Bookstore Opens New Chapter

Store Opening April, 24th 2013. Grand Opening Sale May 2-4 with Book Signing Event May 2, 4:00-6:00 pm

Union Presbyterian Seminary will open a new bookstore as it takes over the campus bookstore location from Cokesbury, the retail division of United Methodist Publishing House. The store will open to the public on Wednesday, April 24th at 12 pm. There will be a grand opening sale May 2-4, including a reception and book signing event on May 2, in Belk Center - adjacent to the bookstore - on the Richmond campus, from 4:00-6:00 pm. The 2013 Sprunt lecturer E. Brooks Holifield, professor emeritus of the Chandler School of Theology, as well as members of the UPSem faculty, will be featured. All guests at the book signing will receive a free UPSem t-shirt.

The campus bookstore has long served the Richmond Theological Consortium, made up of Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and Union Presbyterian Seminary. It will continue to serve as an academic book store for those seminaries, as well as providing books, church supplies, and resources for local churches and clergy. The bookstore also carries Bibles, general books, fair trade items and other gifts. The store will provide services including special book orders as well as custom clergy and choir apparel. Located on Union Presbyterian Seminary’s Ginter Park campus, the bookstore welcomes the general public.

The bookstore location remains at 1101 Melrose Avenue, Richmond, Virginia. As of April, 24th, the store days and hours will be 12pm-5pm Tuesday-Thursday, 12pm-6pm on Friday, and 12pm-4pm on Saturday. The store is closed on Sundays and Mondays. The bookstore can be contacted at: bookstore@upsem.edu .
