Luxmoore Rejoins Seminary as Advancement Director

Celia K. Luxmoore has rejoined the community at Union Presbyterian Seminary as advancement director for the Richmond campus. Luxmoore previously worked at Union-PSCE as director of marketing resources and director of communications from 1984-1992. She left to become director of development at Vancouver School of Theology, a multidenominational seminary in Canada, for five years.

On returning to the USA, she became director of advancement at Washington International School in Washington, DC for seven years. Later she was the director of development at the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar at the time of its founding in Richmond, and most recently she was a regional director of development for the YMCA of Greater Richmond.

“Although there have been major changes in the institutions over the two decades of my absence, I feel as if I have come home again,” says Luxmoore. “I am looking forward to the challenge of building resources to ensure future sustainability.”

Luxmoore’s experience as a fund developer and strategic planner are well suited to Union Presbyterian. She will focus on building relationships for the seminary with major donors, major gift cultivation, and strategic planning for development activities. The seminary has a long-standing history of maximizing its resources to provide theological education for students and leadership for churches. Richard Wong, vice president for advancement said, "We are fortunate to have a person of experience and skill to fill this position to tell good news of the church and the seminary. We are grateful to God for calling Celia to serve Union Presbyterian. "
