Andreas Schuele earned doctoral degrees in both Ancient Near Eastern Studies and Old Testament from the University of Heidelberg and he received his “Habilitation” (Dr. habil.) from the University of Zurich. His research focuses on language, literary history, and theology of the Old Testament as well as on the intersection between exegesis and constructive theology. Schuele publishes in German and English. He has written and edited ten books, most recently a commentary on the Primeval History (Genesis 1-11) in the Zurich Bible Commentary Series and an introduction to Biblical Aramaic (forthcoming with WJK Press). His current projects include a book on concepts of divine nearness in the Hebrew Bible and a commentary on Isaiah 56-66 for the Hermeneia Commentary series. Schuele serves on the editorial boards of Hermeneia (OT), Interpretation: A Journal for Bible and Theology, and he is charge of the review section of the "Theologische Rundschau" for Old Testament theology and hermeneutics.
